Daytona Beach, FL

Daytona Beach, FL – With the AMA sanctioned ASRA SuperStock Championship locked up for Paul DeCouto already , the final race for the class at Daytona was strickly for bragging rights and what a race it was. Liter bike specialist and former SuperStock Champion Tim Bemisderfer did battle with Dave Loikits for the first 6 laps and it looked like Bemisderfer was going to pull some drafting magic on the final lap. The plan went awry when Loikits suffered a mechanical problem on the last lap, leaving Bemisderfer in the lead and vulnerable to the draft pass from Bruno Silva. At the flag it was Silva by .086 over Bemisderfer with Dave Ebben in 3rd. The 2013 ASRA SuperStock Champion Paul DeCouto finished in 9th but still took home the big trophy for the season.

On the track next was the ThunderBike final and it was supposed to be the duel between point leader Douglas Fogg and his challenger Ray Hofman, but Fogg was notified of a family emergency and had to return home to Massachusetts, leaving Hofman the championship if he completed the first lap. It was clear that Hofman wasn't just going to take it easy as he grabbed the lead  from the green flag and never looked back, gapping 2nd place David Hanig by 6.391seconds at the checker. The 3rd position went to Thomas Hall who finished just .009 seconds behind Hanig. With the victory, Hofman secured the 2013 ASRA ThunderBike Championship.

The final ASRA race of the day was SportBike and Ryan Jones coasted into the event with a 20 point lead in the championship over Mark Miller Jr, just needing to finish 9th or better to win the 2013 ASRA Sportbike Championship, a relaxed Jones was up to the task.  At the start of the race it was Miller who led  the first lap trying to do what he needed to win his second consecutive SportBike title, but by lap 2, jason Farrell had hit his stride and took the lead way from Miller. While Farrell was off the fasest pace by .5 seconds, his consistency earned him the victory over Kyle Ohnsorg by .082 seconds and the final podium position went to Stefano Mesa .288 seconds behind the winner. Miller finished 4th and Ryan finished 8th so Ryan clinched his first ASRA SportBike National Championship.

In Amateur ASRA action,  SuperStock was won by  Peter Nicolosi, Clint Russell took the victory in SportBike and ThunderBike as the only dual winner on the day in ASRA competition. Millville, NJ

Millville, NJ -  The AMA sanctioned ASRA Championship Series joined USGPRU and the Championship Cup Series at New Jersey Motorsports Park for the fifth round of the 2013 championship and it was a scorcher in more ways than one. First out were the ASRA SuperStock competitors and they wasted no time getting busy with the championship chase. Tim Bemisderfer put his Suzuki GSXR 1000 out in front and led all 9 laps to finish with a 3.768 margin of victory. Paul DeCouto, the point-leader coming into the event, tried to stay close but between the heat and Bemisderfer ‘s pace it was a losing battle. First to get past DeCouto’s Suzuki was eventual runner-up Mark Heckles on his Honda 1000 on lap 2. Then on lap 6, Erich Helmbach moved his BMW 1000 past DeCouto to take the final podium spot. Bemisderfer‘s win, coupled with DeCouto’s fourth place, moves him to within 14 points of the championship lead.

For the last race of the day, the ASRA ThunderBikes rolled to the line missing point leader Ray Hofman and raising the hopes of championship contender Doug Fogg. When the green flag dropped, it was David Hanig on the Ducati 749 who jumped to the point and took off chasing his first ThunderBike victory of 2013. It didn’t take long for Leonard Roy on his Suzuki SV 650 to move into second position and set off after Hanig. The race was stopped when Jim Bonner crashed his Yamaha 250 after the white flag, ending the race with Hanig in first, Roy in second and Fogg in third place.  Ray Hofman holds a 19-point lead over Fogg with three races left in the 2013 ASRA ThunderBike Championship.
